Shop to watch: Yannique
I received an email from Yannique executive- Mallory, introducing a new innovative online boutique that solely promotes handmade garments and accessories from independent aspiring designers. Upon closer inspection of their work, it became apparent that each designer has their own creative flair and distinct style. However a common thread between them is their eye for detail and their ability to express and create designs with a chic timeless style.

tSC: How/Why did you decide to start ‘Yannique’?
Mallory: I started a online boutique because of my love for fashion and finding clothes that are unique that I know no one would have in my area. The thought of wearing something that you wouldn’t find the next girl wearing is great. Independent designers are so creative and I love how they express themselves through their many styles.
tSC: Many emerging designers are looking for a showcasing platform, how would designers go about this? If designers are interested in being apart of Yannique what would it require?
Mallory: I had this amazing skirt custom sized for me for an event I was attending last year by Natalie Low. I love her clothes. I thought of her when I started the boutique. I quickly contacted her and she agreed to have her clothing featured in my boutique. From there, she recommended that I contact Tracy Ho. I saw Cowgirl Heaven’s clothing on etsy and said I knew I just had to have her as well in my store. Goldspun Designs contacted me after seeing my site on the internet. Actually, all of the designers have their own etsy stores. They are all amazing and so talented!
I’m still looking for designers to add to the boutique. I want to feature many designers and give them the opportunity to showcase their cloths and jewelry through my boutique. I’m looking for chic and timeless style to add. Designers can contact me through the site.
tSC: What can we expect from Yannique in the near future?
Mallory: You can expect a whole lot from Yannique. Some of the cloths and jewlery are being featured in a spread in an online magazine very soon. I’m also working on a fashion show too. Also, look for the designers to showcase their fall/winter lines as well soon.
tSC: What is the best part of having this online store that brings customers to up and coming designers?
Mallory: What girl wouldn’t like to say that an up and coming designer made her dress or skirt? It makes you feel special to know that some one who is and up and coming made your dress. Yannique’s goal is to make sure that the designers names are out there. I believe in my designers and I know that they’ll be big one day like the famous fashion designers out there.
tSC: Any advice you’d like to give to people who aspire to start online stores such as Yannique?
Mallory: My advice to those who aspire to open an online store, is be creative and never give up. If you have a passion for something, don’t let it pass you by, just go for it. You never know where it will take you.
