Brand to Watch: Vanishing Elephant

Felix Chan, Huw Bennett and Arran Russell are the boys behind Sydney label Vanishing Elephant. Chan was initially a buyer for Incu, Bennett had his own sales agency and Russell was an art director behind major UK brands such as Marshall Artist and Maharashi; together they combined their skills and experience to create VE; a label that strives to produce high quality garments with purpose and elegance.

VE’s latest collection, Them Old Cotton Fields, draws inspiration from folk rock icons of the 60’s and 70’s (think Neil Young, Nash, Crosby), all American classic work wear decorated with bold ethnic inspired prints that provide a wonderful counterpart to the plainer silhouettes of chinos, suits and knits. We love how the whole collection represents multiple characteristics and personalities of their audience, cleverly pushing boundaries of fashion and art yet not isolating a core audience.

“Our aesthetic equation is simple - keep it classic and basic, be internationally fashion-forward but don’t adhere to trends and don’t forget to add colour.” - V.E
