She may be the newest addition to the growing list of leading fashion designers in Australia, but Jessie Hill is quickly making her mark with her sharp sense of style and whimsical yet deceptively simple designs. Her current S/S10 collection “Morocco” truly takes us on a journey of all things exotic and flamboyant. She uses unconventional fabrics such as hand painted silks, silk organza, cashmere, silk jersey and applies intricate detailing and embellishments through treatments such as beading, pleating cupping and embroidery. Creating garments that are consistently reflective of Hill’s love for incorporating both design & art.
The unique aesthetic was one of the main factors that drew me to this whole collection, so conceptual yet wearable and accessible to everyone. The silhouettes are all equally flattering and simple yet injected with the perfect dose of color, playfulness and quirk. Undoubtedly perfect for those summer days where gallivanting in a cooling dress is all you want to do, along with an easy transition to night time glamor.
